Power Point

I have seen quite a few bad power point presentations throughout my educational career. One thing that people do to slides is they put too much information on one individual slide. I was always told that it is pointless to have all of your text on a slide, because then people are reading the slide instead of listening to what you have to say. Another thing that people do is they put funky backgrounds on their slides. Backgrounds like that make it harder for people to read.In addition, avoid the fancy fonts. Keeping slides simple is one of the top things to be aware of when creating a power point. When using graphics, use them to add to your presentation, not cover it up. Do not fill your slides up with pointless pictures that have nothing to do with your topic. When creating a power point presentation, make sure that it flows. There should be no random slides in your presentation.
Power point presentations can be good when someone if presenting data. I have seen some good presentations in my first year seminar. What some of my classmates did was put charts and graphs on their slides. They would discuss what the graph meant and gave us plenty of time to read them. The charts gave us something to look at while they talked about how the data related to their topic. Other things that I look for in a good power point presentation is pace. The presenter needs to give the audience enough time to read each thought before moving on. These are just some of the qualities of a good power point.

CLT

I had never been to the AT&T Center for Learning and Technology before. When I first walked in I thought it looked like every other computer lab. I liked that there were both Macs and PCs. I am more familiar with Dells than I am with Macs. Plus, I thought it was really cool that most of the computers had a scanner right next to them. When I used it to scan my self portrait onto the computer, I was really happy that it was easy to figure out. I would definitely use CLT for this class. Although I have my own scanner, I can take advantage of the scanners in CLT if I know that I'll be working in the library. I can see myself coming back to CLT to do projects for this class, but I have no idea if I will need to come back for other classes.

Photos Lie

I cannot say that I love Oprah, but I have a lot of respect for her, which is why I chose this photo. This photo struck me because the body does not match the face at all; the proportions are just all wrong. he photo was created by Dartmouth grad Hany Farid. The body image is of Ann-Margret and was taken in 1979 as a publicity shot. On the cover of TV Guide, Oprah's head was placed on Ann-Margret's body. The photo was most likely created for the purpose of humor. Aside from making Oprah and Ann-Margret unhappy,I do not believe this photo was meant to harm anyone. The photo may have been created to relate the power of a woman to her body image, or it could have something to do with Oprah's yo-yo weight loss.

This was just amazing. This was one of the first videos I found and it just amazed me. I believe it shows that, through photo manipulation anyone can be beautiful. Knowing what can be done to a photo of an old woman should show what extremes can also been taken to improve the photo of a celebrity. Therefore, young people should consider how much a beauty shot is manipulated before it becomes the cover of a fashion magazine. This should remind everyone that no one is perfect, not even celebrities because basically every photo that gets taken of them is manipulated in one way or another.
